Program Description
The program is designed for students to acquire the skills necessary to enter the very competitive profession of photography, transfer to a 4-year Fine Arts program, or both. Instruction is provided in both black and white and color photography using the latest equipment.
Students will apply technical and aesthetic principles of fine art and/or commercial photography in: - black and white laboratory techniques - using digital cameras and software - studio lighting - evaluating and analyzing photographs - using compositional skills - developing a portfolio - presentation techniques |
Students completing the Associate in Arts Degree in
Photography will be able to: - create photographic works utilizing appropriate compositional considerations - demonstrate competent skills in camera operation, film and digital printing - evaluate photographs with critical skills applied to literature and science - research and discuss past and present works - recognize and analyze the history and social role of photography |
